Gunfire at Sea
An excellent case study based on the development of continuous aim firing and the adoption of this innovation by the US Navy, this provides a good basis for class discussion around the development and adoption of innovations and illustrates clearly that technical excellence – even when proven and documented – may not be enough to convince people to adopt. It is useful for opening up a wide range of discussions around innovation strategy, adoption behaviour and disruptive/discontinuous innovation.
